September 1 – Goals

Hello bloggy land. It’s been a {LONG} while since I’ve been here.. And I’ve missed it. I miss writing. Soooo much has changed in the last year… I’ve been wanting to blog for a while now, but didn’t know where to start. The other day I was browsing Pinterest {naturally}, and I came across this calendar for blogging. So I thought, “What the hell? I’ll give it a shot!” So here goes..

Blog ideas for every day in September.

September 1 – My Goals

I only have a million and two of them. My number one goal right now {besides being the best mother I possibly can be} is to buy a house. I seriously cannot get my mind off of it. And if you know me, you know that I am stubborn as hell and when I want something, I don’t stop until I get it. “My way or no way” kinda thing. I am going in to the bank tomorrow to see if I even qualify for anything. Also, my dad and I are going to look at a house I’ve been eyeing. It’s older and needs some work, but it’s for a really good price. I’m hoping it’s not too good to be true. There are a couple others besides this one that I have been looking at, but I am not sure if they are outside of my price range or not, since I don’t know if I qualify for anything. I’m nervous but excited. I want to be in my own place so bad. I want to get sweet boy a dog and I just want my own space.

My next goal is to get my bachelor’s in Psychology. I decided on Thursday that I can going back to school in January to pursue my dream of becoming a counselor and that starts with getting my degree. Here’s to an even busier life. Not quite sure how I am going to juggle everything.

Another goal I have is to pay off some debt. I need to be better with my money and not get suckered in to every stores credit card. Even though they have such good incentives! Ugh. The struggle is real. I need to only use them to get the discount and then pay it off right then, while I’m still in the store.

One more current goal I have right now is to lose some weight. To get back down to my “normal” size. I’ve gained about 20 pounds since March and it’s so upsetting to me! I have no idea why. I wasn’t doing anything different. It seemed like one day I just woke up and gained half a person. I’ve had to break out all my old pants from high school – which barely fit. This is the biggest I’ve ever been. I’m thinking it has something to do with my thyroids. I really need to get some blood work done, but we have been waiting for our new insurance to kick in. Now, I’ve been watching what I eat. Drinking only water. Walking at least three miles every night. I’m not seeing a lot of progress, but I am doing what I can. Trying to let the weight just take care of itself.

Those are just a few of my short-term goals I have for myself right now. Here’s to being able to accomplish them!

Outfit Idea #4: Basic and Easy

It was one of those days where I didn’t really feel like getting ready, but still wanted to look like I put some effort in to it. The hat was what I was trying to base my outfit off of and this is what I came up with.

1003220_515885091837593_628432752_nHat, ivory top and boots from –  Jourdan’s Jewels. Brown tank – Down East. Pants – Gordmans.

Outfit Idea #3: Leopard

Leopard. Is so HOT right now! And so are leggings. I mean, who doesn’t love leggings? This outfit was beyond comfy and so relaxed.

999567_541440855948683_1282431551_nHeadband – Maurices. Sweater and tank – I’ve had for years. Leggings and Rascal BootsJourdan’s Jewels.

Outfit Idea #2

This is one of my favorites and when I posted it on Facebook, it was an instant hit – I sold out of the dress within an hour.

1457750_546052362154199_1097797764_nIt was a good hair day, too (;

1392006_546136405479128_136901130_nDottie Dress {sold out}, Fleece Lined Leggings, Rascal Boots, Necklace all from Jourdan’s Jewels.

I wore this to work and got compliments one after another on my dress! Safe to say it’s a keeper!

Outfit Idea #1

Most of you know that I own a clothing/jewelry business, so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that I can throw together some cute outfits! (; Plus, thank heavens for Pinterest! It’s helped me think outside of the box with some things. Not every outfit I share will be “bold”, like the Pinterest inspired ones, but all will be easy, comfy, and stylish.

1384386_527284264031009_753693554_nScarf – Amazon. Chambray – Ross. Belt – Walmart. Yellow Skinny Jeans – Rue 21. Boots – Jourdan’s Jewels.

This outfit was so easy. This is a great look to transition from summer to fall. For a complete fall look, wear a darker colored skinny jean, like burgandy and maybe a lighter pair of boots. If you wear dark boots and dark jeans, you can’t really see where one ends and another begins – it all just “fades” together.

P.S. I’m no style expert, but I think it’s fun to share my ideas and I hope you will, too.

Monster Party Favors

I had so much fun prepping for Karsyn’s 1st birthday last year! Can’t believe I am already working on stuff for his 2nd. Unfortunately, this one isn’t going to be as big, since we now live 4 hours away from any family ):

Anyway, today I am going to quickly show you how easy it was to “make” the faces on the bubbles and play dough that were inside of the treat bags!

1005490_10201656335708075_19735816_nFirst, I removed all of the labels. I didn’t really care too much about the sticky part; it was only a small line on each thing, but I knew the kids wouldn’t even notice! But, if you are worried about it, make your own Goo Gone to get it off!

Then I added one eye to each bottle.

Then I went crazy with the faces! I used my treat bag drawings for inspiration (;

1186161_10201656336548096_375161304_nFun, right?

1012491_10201656336108085_1485404366_nI got the packs of bubbles and play dough at the Dollar Tree. It was cheaper {yes, only by a few cents, but hey!} than Walmart.

We ended up having some party packs left over, so I gave them to trick-or-treaters! This would be a way cute {and healthier} option for those little kids.

What is your go-to party favor?

Monster Party Treat Bags

No Monster Party is complete without some Monster Party Treat Bags!

Monster Party BagsIn each bag was about 10 pieces of candy that I bought at the Dollar Store.

Monster Party Bags 4

Monster Party Bags 3Along with a cute little Monster coloring and activity book.

I hand-drew every single monster! One on each bag. And there was about 30 bags! I was inspired by each of the monsters in the activity book and the stamp I used for the invites/envelopes. Then, of course, I added a googly eye to each one! (:

Monster Party Bags 2Then I just folded the top down and stapled it. I had orange, blue, green, and a few pink bags for the girls.

12807_4747163154902_1632950674_nI thought they turned out pretty stinkin’ cute! I was really in love with each one of them!

I got each of the bags at Walmart. They were about .25 each. The googly eyes in packs of 125 from the Dollar Store. The candy at the Dollar Store. And the activity books from Oriental Trading.

Have you ever made your own party bags? How did they turn out?

How to make a Pennant Banner

For Karsyn’s first birthday, I tried to make as many things as I could, to save money. I searched and searched Pinterest for a good tutorial on how to make a pennant banner and I couldn’t really find one, so I just had to wing it. I am not saying mine is the best, because I know it’s not, but hopefully it will help you!

how to make a pennant banner

And I will apologize, again, right now for having crappy pix! It was like 1 AM when I was making and taking.

Supplies needed:

-Paper trimmer/scissors
-Hole Punch

1233622_10201709547918347_290831773_nFirst, I chose some paper that matched the color scheme I was doing {which was blue, orange, and green}. I used 12×12 paper.

Next, I drew a line straight across the middle of the paper.

1174546_10201709545358283_129305276_nThen I drew diagonal lines from the middle to the outside of the paper, creating triangles. I believe they were about 3.5 inches?

532071_10201709546278306_2021835373_nI just did this over and over until my page was full of triangles. As you can see, I did it on both sides of the line.

998787_10201709547318332_704616316_nI also trimmed off where the lines overlapped on the bottom.

563046_10201709547078326_997961760_nThen I just used my trimmer to cut along the lines.

Next, I cut out the circles that had the letters on them. I just created these in Word.

536749_10201709545918297_294779358_nI can’t remember the exact font I used {so sorry!!}, but I was looking for something fun and this one was perfect.

560502_10201709547638340_1292690752_nThen I glued each circle on to each little triangle.

995197_10201709542958223_1617332088_nAfter I had them all glued on, I punched a hole in each of the top corners. Then I cut a small piece of string and tied the one to another until I had each word complete. I realize that probably doesn’t make a lot of sense and I don’t have a picture to show. For the “HAPPY” I punched a hole in the top right corner of the “H” and then a hole in the top right and left corner of the “A”. So the hole from the “H” and the left hole on the “A” were tied together. Does that make sense now?

how to make a pennant bannerIn this picture, you can kind of see what I mean. Hopefully that helps you! If you have questions, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them!!

Monster Party Pinata

For Karsyn’s Monster Party, I had a really hard time finding a Monster Pinata. I looked everywhere! The ones at Walmart were just characters, like Dora, Cars, Spongebob. They didn’t even have ANY Halloween ones. Finally, I checked online at Oriental Trading and found the perfect one!

Monster Pinata 3

It was even in his birthday party colors!

Monster Pinata

I filled it with a bunch of candy and fun little toys that I got in this assortment bag.

Monster Pinata 2

And I thought this cute little guy was missing something, so I added some googly eyes to him, of course!!
{Sorry for such crappy pix. It was REAAALLLY late!}

The kids enjoyed breaking him open! And I was so glad that I was able to find one!

Where is your go-to place for pinatas?
