Maternity Pictures

I was going through some pictures the other day and came across my maternity pictures, so I thought I would share a few of them here. I did not have them professionally done; I just had my brother take the pictures and I edited them. Here’s a few of my favorites…

This one is probably my most favorite. I blew this one up and it’s hanging in his room, under a big wooden sign that has the “You are my Sunshine” song on it.

Yes, I know my belly button looks sick. This is what it looks like when you have your button pierced and then get pregnant. Yum

Never mind the fact that the building behind us has the words “Barn Slob” graffiti-ed on there

The leaves were really this colorful and vibrant up there. So gorgeous! I love that time of year!

And this is my other most favorite!! LOOOVE it.

317563_2512597132148_209854250_nAnd yes, I realize that my neck looks broken, but there was a branch right there and I just couldn’t get comfy. Also, i was about 5 feet off the ground, so I really didn’t want to move and risk falling down on a 8.5 month pregnant belly.

I hope you enjoyed those! The little boy that came out of that belly is my greatest creation. I love him so much and I am so glad he is mine. I can’t wait to have another!!

Diabetes Awareness {Guest Post}

In this world we live in today, more and more children are becoming obese. This is a touchy subject with a lot of people because many people just don’t know what to do or how to stop it! How do you change your ways? How do you change your eating habits? It’s something that NEEDS to be talked about and not just swept under the rug.

Today I have Carolyn here from Full on Fit to raise awareness!

Holiday Season with Diabetes Awareness: Helping Kids

Kids love the holidays, no matter which ones they are – and who doesn’t? Presents, sweet treats, fun decorations; it’s a time all about having fun and being with friends and family. This past November, National Diabetes Awareness Month kicked into full gear, and for the first time ever, I had a personal reason to be active in the awareness campaign: one of my little cousins had just recently been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.

After doing some initial research, I realized how many families are actually affected by this disease. According to Syracuse’s St. Joseph’s Hospital Cardiac Center, 1 out of every 3 kids is overweight or obese, and the number of Type 2 Diabetes cases among children is rising. For parents who worry about their child’s diet and exercise habits, it’s never too late to start healthy, even in the midst of the holiday season.

Eating Right

A good meal is what sets the tone for kids. With proper nutrition, “overweight” kids can overcome overeating and sugar addiction habits early on. At all times of the year, but especially with the upcoming holidays of St. Patrick’s Day and Easter, parents need to focus a child’s diet on healthier foods as much as possible.

Hearty roasted vegetables like squash, broccoli, green beans, carrots and spinach are all great options, while also allowing for smaller proportions of starchy veggies and grains like potatoes, rice, pasta and whole grain bread. This Easter dinner, try a healthy Mediterranean dish of roasted broccoli and harvest tomatoes, orange-scented green beans with toasted almonds, glazed mini carrots, cauliflower puree with garlic butter and stuffed acorn squash with cheddar and chard.

For smaller proportions, look for recipes that incorporate shrimp, turkey, chicken, mashed potatoes, cream corn and rice. Whole grain bread sides are also encouraged but should be moderately consumed. Parents can keep an eye on carbohydrates, sugar and glucose intake by reading labels and preparing meals that are low in sugar. It’s also important to make sure that kids are getting some treats and balancing their healthy meals with an occasional splurge. It’s safe for a few pieces of candy or a small slice of pie once in a while!

To burn off energy, kids need to get up and move around. Overweight and obese children often suffer more because they are sedimentary and prefer to stay inside rather than move around. The best way to get kids moving is to play games, dance and get creative with “exercise” so that it doesn’t seem so daunting.
Dance Off

Families can partake in a fun dance-off challenge, where everyone gets together and shows their best moves. Kids can make up their own dances to songs and receive silly awards for craziest moves, most daring spins, etc.  The point is to get kids to dance for an hour and burn calories in a silly way that’s also fun, becoming a fun family tradition tradition.

Family Fun Days
For one week, plan events every day to do as a family that are active and outdoors as part of “Family Fun Days.” This can be competitive or just for fun. One day could be a basketball game, the next scavenger hunt/Easter Egg Hunt or St. Patrick’s Day scavenger hunt for the leprechaun’s gold! . Each day can have a different yet active event to get kids up and moving around!

Thanks Carolyn! That was great. I think her suggestions are something each of us need to take in to consideration. Let’s get {and keep!} our kids healthy! Be sure to stop by her blog and say HI!

Christmas Eve

Happy {merry?} Christmas Eve!

I hope you have a super fabulous time with your loved ones!

I hope Santa finds his way into your home tonight and you wake up with some awesomeness under your tree!

Later on, we are gonna go look at all the beautiful homes decked out in lights.

And when we get back, we are starting a new tradition with our very own little family.

I saw this idea on Pinterest.

Christmas Eve Box - Include: New pajamas, a Christmas movie, popcorn, mugs, hot chocolate, marshmallows, and a Christmas book. This could definitely turn into a tradition.{Unfortunately, the back link didn’t work on this, so all I’ve got is the picture.}

It’s the Christmas Eve box.

Inside is a Christmas movie, a pair of pajamas for each of us, a mug for Kade and I and a sippy for Karsyn, some hot chocolate and marshmallows, along with some snacks to enjoy while watching the movie.

Last year, Karsyn was only about 2 months old, so we just went to Kade’s moms and ate dinner.

Now that Karsyn is a little older, we are gonna do our own thing.

I can’t wait to carry on this tradition for the rest of my years!

I can’t wait to see what everyone gets tomorrow! (:

Pinto {Part 4}

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3

001 (2)

I’ve been dreading this final part because it makes me really sad. Still to this day.

I’m probably going to cry while writing this. ):

So it was a warm, summer day. June 21 to be exact.

I was at my moms, where I lived.

Kade was over and we had just got back from somewhere, don’t remember where, but we just sat in the truck talking.

Pinto was with us.

We opened the doors because it was hot.

Pinto would go from the truck to the driveway, to the truck to the driveway, to the truck to the driveway.

My mom’s driveway is a little weird.

She’s got a normal driveway in front of the garage and then in front of the yard, where it usually connects with the road or sideway, there is more pavement before the road. Probably about 10 feet. It’s big enough to park all the extra cars there.

Anyway, Pinto had just gotten out and he was laying right where the driveway met the road.

He was just chillin’ there, soakin’ up the sun.

Kade and I were still talking.

Laughing at Pinto because he couldn’t make up his mind.

I happened to glance up and saw a truck coming toward us.

I didn’t really think much about it.

Cars and trucks go by all day long.

But as he got closer… And closer… And closer

I could see what was coming…

{Wow, this is really hard to write! I’m already bawling like a little two-year-old.}

I jumped out of the truck as fast as I could,

But I was too late..

My dog, my best friend, my protector, my guardian, my laughter, my life,

Was dead.

I was laying in the middle of the road,

Next to my dead dog,

SCREAMING for him to come back.

I was just wailing around and screaming.

Every single neighbor came out to see what the heck was going on.

It. Was. AWFUL.

To say the least.

The guy finally stopped about two houses down.

Apparently he said sorry, but I have absolutely no recollection of that.

My mom came over and scooped up my lifeless dog.

She wrapped him in a towel and put him in the back of Kade’s truck so we could go bury him.

She told me I couldn’t look at him, but I insisted on holding him until we got to the spot.

I called my dad and asked if he could come help me dig a hole for my Bean.

He said yes, and we met at my grandma’s, out where we had buried our other dogs that have passed.

I cried until I couldn’t cry anymore.

I was weak. Exhausted. Distraught.

It was, honestly, the worst day of my life.

I’ve never had a day as bad as that.

That was my first “real” death.

We’ve had other dogs that died, but none I was that close to.

I haven’t had any family members or friends that I was close to pass on, so that’s what I mean when I say my first.

{Please, God, do NOT take one of my family members or friends because I said that. Where’s the wood? I need to knock on it.}

I’m gonna end it hear because I’m sick of thinking about it.

To this day, I still miss him.

When we move to a place that will allow me to have a dog, that will be my first purchase.

Have you had a pet that got ran over? How did you handle it?

You Know You’re a Parent When…

you know you're a parent when

About a month ago, I took a poll on three of my Facebook pages {Jourdan’s Jewels, Jourdan’s {Handmade} Jewels, and Perfectly Posh with Jourdan} with this phrase, “Fill in the blank.. You know you’re a mom {or dad} when ___________”

I got some pretty funny answers, some that were so true that is was a little ridiculous.

I just wanted to share them with you.

Happy Thanksgiving {And some DEALS!}

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

I hope each and every one of you have a great day. Spending time with your loved ones. Stuffing your face. And belly.

I hope you gobble up so much, that you literally wobble.

I hope there is delicious food, wherever it is that you’re going.

I hope you’re thankful for the things you have been blessed with.

And even the things you’ve not been blessed with.

I’d just like to share a few things that I am most thanful for {in no particular order}:
*KarsynTHE BEST GIFT I have ever received. He means more to me than anything in this world. I’d do anything for this kid. And I might be biased, but he is the most handsome boy I have EVER laid eyes on. He melts my heart each time I look at him. I can never stay mad at that cutie.

*Kade – He is truly my best friend. I don’t know what I’d ever do without him. We have definitely had our fair share of ups and downs, but we work through them. We don’t give up. Even though we often want to. Deep down, we know that we love each other and that we want to be together forever. For time and all eternity.

*My mom – We didn’t used to get along very well when I was younger because we were too much alike. So we clashed and would fight. During the summer when it was her time to have me for a month, I never lasted more than a week, if that. But my junior year of High School, I moved in with her. It was the best thing I could have done. She saved my life. {That’s another story. Maybe some other time…} We are now best friends. We talk every day. And never fight.

*My dad – Going from a complete daddy’s girl one day to “not mattering” the next was awful. But as the years have passed, and things have changed, we are now picking up the pieces. I don’t talk to him every day, but at least once a week, plus I go over there to visit a couple times a month. I am thankful that my dad and I can talk now and get along. Because I really do love him. So much.

*Tammy {my ex-step-mom} – She did a good job at raising me those first few years. She taught me standards and morals. She taught me to be self-disciplined. She was strict. And VERY hard on me. I definitely wasn’t thankful for it at the time, but I am now. Because it’s made me who I am today.

*Terry {my step-dad} – He’s another one that I never really got along with growing up, but now that I have moved out and have my own life and family, we get along better than ever. He’s a great guy, but you just have to really get to know him and crack the hard, thick shell.

*Hesston {my bro} – It’s funny how relationships change as you change and mature. We have such a great relationship. I can talk to him about anything and I hope he feels the same about me. He’s freakin’ funny. He’s a little rough on the edges, but what teenage boy isn’t?

*Jesika {my sis} – Her and I have always been close. She’s turning in to a beautiful woman with every passing day.

*Tarris {my bro} – He’s such a hoot. So smart. And very kind hearted. He’s very sincere and would never do anything to intentionally hurt someone. I wish he was more active and would get off the computer, but at least he’s healthy!

*Hagun {my bro} – He’s so smart and has a LOT of common sense. He was able to completely change his flat bike tire at 4 years old.

*Tanna {my sis} – My BABY sis! Oh, how I love her. She’s such a little diva.

Each of my brothers and sisters give me motivation. Motivation to be a better person.

Because I know they are looking up to me.

And I don’t want them to make the same mistakes I did.

I want them to learn from me.

But most of all, I want them to love me.

*My businesses – Lastly {but NOT least!}, I am thankful for my three businesses. They have made it so that I can stay home with my son and work from home.

There is so much more that I am thankful for, but I could go on for days!

Speaking of my businesses {are you still with me?}, I’ve got a discount going on right now to help you get in gear with your shopping for this weekend!!

Take 25% off your order! Woohoo!!

Karsyn’s 1st Birthday {Monster Party}

*Warning: This is full of CUTE pictures!

On Saturday, October 27th, we celebrate Karsyn’s FIRST birthday! I made most of the decorations. It was exhausting, to say the least, but VERY worth it. I am glad to have it over with, though. We had a good turnout!

Take a look….

When you first walked through the doors, you saw a sign that said “Beware of the little Monsters! Enter at your own risk!”

Then as you walked in, there was the Pinata hanging from a coat rack. {We had to get creative. Couldn’t hang it very high since it was mostly little kids at the party.}

Then as you kept walking, there was a table with the goodie bags.

In the middle of this table was my cute frame.

On the other side of the table were the bubbles and Play-Doh.

Then once you were all the way in, there were three tables for you to sit at.
These were my center pieces.

Then on the far left-hand side was a table with the cupcake cakes. {They were delicious, needless to say.}

I had Fresh Market make them. I was SO happy with how they turned out. And the frosting is whipped. If you aren’t getting whipped frosting, there is something wrong with you. WHIPPED FROSTING, PEOPLE!!

There were also plates, napkins, and cutlery on the table. Off to the side of that table was a round table with the drinks.

We made Fresh Lime.

Above the three tables where people could sit down to chat and eat, was the present table. And above that hung the “Happy Birthday Karsyn” banner.

That was pretty much it as far as details.. I didn’t get all the pictures I wanted, but I can’t complain.

Now on to pictures of the fun {mixed up.. they aren’t in order.. sorry!}

My sister and cousin showing of the adorable Monster suckers!

Karsyn getting the cake smashed in his face.
It’s a tradition, people. Don’t judge.
This is not abuse.
It happens to every kid in our family on their 1st birthday.
Like it or leave it.

“What’s in there?!”

Kade’s family.. Sister Ashlee, Grandma Lenna, and mom Cindy

Hitting the Pinata

He wasn’t too impressed with me.

After they had FINALLY broken open the Pinata.
My brother {in the red.. with the devious smile} broke it with his hand.
He’d had enough of the wimpy hits!

My cousin and sweet baby sis.

Isn’t she cute?
I love her. to. pieces.

Our little niece, Emersyn.

He was so polite when unwrapping his presents.
He would tear off a little baby piece, had that little baby piece to me to throw away.
And repeat.

He loves that thing!

Emmy hitting the Pinata.

A train set that my Nana got him.
It’s unpainted, so that will be a fun craft for us to do as a family.

If you made it through all these photos, good job! We had a blast! Karsyn was pooped by the time it was over.

What was your favorite thing about Karsyn’s party?

My Personal Best

Today I am linking up at A Beautiful Day for Sunday Snaps.

This weeks theme is “Personal Best.” All you have to do is share three of your personal best “snaps” or pictures. Like Julie said in her post, it’s hard to narrow it down with so many pictures, but here it goes!

This is my brother and Karsyn. I love this picture because 1) they match and 2) my bro just looks so happy. He adores Kars!

I love this picture of my and my babe because we look so happy! My child means more to me than anything in the entire world.
And I love my hair in this pic!! (:

And last, but DEFINITELY not least! I love this picture of Karsyn because, again, he is just so happy! You have no idea how often people tell me what a happy baby he is.

So what are you personal best? I’ll be watching for them on the link up! (:

Happy Sunday!

24th of July!

As I mentioned yesterday, here in Utah we celebrate the 24th of July. We have parades, booths, fireworks, food, family gatherings, etc…

Me and my sweet son!

And the kids again, with Karsyn this time!

After the parade, we walked around the park, got a few drinks and some treats. Then I went to my moms family reunion for a few minutes.

Karsyn and my momma!!

Then I went to a big family BBQ with my dads side of the fam and the kids {and adults} had a lot of fun on the water slides!

After that, I went to a Buckin’ 4 Bucks Bull Riding Rodeo! My parents were somewhat “in charge” and helped out a lot with the event. Not many qualified, but the winner got $2500!!

You know a bunch of REDNECKS are running the show when you see this on your program!

My brother Hesston, Karsyn, and my moms horse, Lincoln.

And a few pics from last nights bridal shower!

Kayshia and Tanna handing Janis gifts!

Karsyn “helping” to clean up the contents of a game we played.

My baby sisters advice to our aunt who is getting married.
“Always make your husband do the dishes.”

And my view of the party!

I hope all of you are having a GREAT 24th of July!!

Monday Fun Day!

How about that title? Does anyone agree with me???

Didn’t think so..

This week is a SUPER BUSY one for me, so in last nights post, I said I would have lots of fun things to post.. Well, I might have lied.. I will shoot for NEXT week to post all my fun! I am really pumped for this week though.. I love to be busy.

Here’s the agenda:
8:30 a.m.: Nail appointment. I haven’t had my nails done in like two years! The last time I had them done was for Prom! They are so stinkin’ cute though!! I love them. But they are a little longer than I was planning on. And they are SO hard to get used to. You basically have to re-learn how to do EVERYTHING. I had to wake up this morning about 7:45 so I could get semi-ready before I went, although I still did go in my PJs. What did I do? You ask. I got up. Pulled my hair back. Put a headband in. Ate some cake. Drank a Mountain Dew. And checked Facebook. I think I may have a problem. I had to wake Karsyn up so he could go to my moms house while I got them done. Then once we got home, I couldn’t get him out of his carseat because I couldn’t push the flippin’ button down to undo the straps. I tried pulling him out every way I could think of, but he just cried and I felt bad because I was hurting him and couldn’t get him out. So, I had to think of something and quick! I hadn’t held him all morning! I took him right out of bed, into the carseat, and to my mom! I was missing my baby and I could tell he was missing me! I got my bottle cap hole punchers and pushed down on the button as hard as I could and finally got him out! Thank goodness. Typing this post is another story. I have had to backspace more in the last five minutes than I have this whole month. And thank goodness my phone has a translator so I can just SAY my texts and it will type it for me because I CANNOT push those tiny buttons with these long nails!! Making jewelry with these suckers should be a good time.

6:30 – Janis’ bridal shower. I still have to go to the store to get her gift. And I’ve known about this for about two weeks now. She has pretty much everything she needs and so does her fiance, so the theme is “Food Storage.” With the invites, we got two recipe cards and were told to write two of our favorites and then bring the ingredients that go along with the recipe. That’s easy enough. I wrote my moms famous Chicken Enchiladas and Zesty Italian Chicken. I will post the recipes for those in the future.. Maybe next week when Kade is home and I have a reason to make dinner.

Here in Utah, we celebrate the 24th of July just like the 4th. We have parades, booths, fireworks, the whole shebang. I LOVE the 24th of July. One of my favorite holidays. So I am really excited for that. The parade in the morning, then looking around at all the booths afterward. Then going to my grandma/pa’s house for a yearly family dinner. Then after that, I am going to the Buckin For Bucks! Some of my family is in charge of it and I think my brothers may be riding a bull!!! Woohoo!! Can’t wait. Then of course, the fireworks when it’s dark!

Janis’ wedding. That will be an all day thing. I will get to see all of my dads side of the fam!

I will be heading to Salt Lake with Karsyn and my cousin Hadleah for Perfectly Posh‘s First Annual Convention!

I have been waiting for this week for MONTHS now!! It’s finally here. I can’t wait to learn more about this awesome company that I am working for, as well as meeting the founders, hanging out with my team, shopping, and of course all of the goodies we will be getting!!

Stay tuned for pix to come from everything!! I hope you are all having a fabulous Monday! (:

Do you have nails? Is it hard adjusting to them when you get them done? Are you a procrastinator, like me?
