Top 10 Favorite Bloggers

top 10 favorite bloggers

Before I start, I shall say that all of these opinions are 100% my own. I was not contacted by any of them in any way telling me to write this post. I am just writing it because I truly love these bloggers. I think you would, too, so read on!

{These are in no particular order.}

Bonnie from Life of Bon – She is a young, High School teacher. I absolutely LOVE her brutal honesty. She writes about very controversial topics, with a recent one being about gays.

Lena from Lena B, Actually – She’s from Canada! She’s funny and very kind-hearted. You should check her out. She also hosts one of my favorite link parties – Tuesday 10.

Megan from Absolute Mommy – She’s another one of those that is pretty honest. Her topics aren’t as controversial as Bon’s, but she tells it like it is.

Linda from Craftaholics Anonymous – She’s super creative and is always coming up with fun, new ideas!

Jen from Craft-o-Maniac – She’s another super crafty gal! I LOVE her gallery wall. I am so obsessed with stars.

Mandy from Sugar Bee Crafts – ANOTHER crafty one! I love crafts. I need to get better at doing them. Mandy shares a lot of sewing tutorials.

Anna from Ask Anna – She shares lots of helpful tips on organizing, cleaning, etc., as well as crafts. (:

Adrianne from Happy Hour Projects – She shares lots of fun jewelry tutorials.. And if you haven’t figured it out yet, I LOVE jewelry!

Bethany from Pitter & Glink – She loves all things pink and glittery. My kinda girl! She also shares lots of fun jewelry tutorials, as well as other fun crafts! I love her latest – Hot Glue Snowflake Ornaments

Bonnie and Trish from eighteen25 – They also share lots of fun crafts, as well as TONS of cute and FREE printable Subway Art! Check out their latest Christmas one!

Those are my Top 10 favorite bloggers!!

15+ Things I would NEVER Buy at the Dollar Store

15+ things I would never buy at the dollar store

This is in addition to my post “20+ Things You Should Buy at the Dollar Store

I am not trying to bash on anything or anyone.

I am just stating my opinion and why. I have nothing against anyone who may happen to buy these things there.

I have also asked my readers on Facebook {Jourdan’s Jewels, Jourdan’s {Handmade} Jewels, and Perfectly Posh with Jourdan} for their input, as well.

Here’s my list:

{These answers have not been edited at all. Just copied and pasted. My opinions are in italics.}

1 – make up! Some of their make-up is okay, and you can’t go wrong with $1 chapsticks!

2 – perishables – I’m with you on that one! I don’t think I would buy a whole lot of food from there. Maybe name brand stuff, but that’s about it.

3 – medicine – I don’t think I would ever really trust $1 medicine either!

4 – Shampoo or Conditioner! – The baby kind wouldn’t be too bad for $1, but not stuff for my own hair.

5 – toilet paper – TP is TP! You can get shitty {no pun intended} TP at Wal-Mart.

6 – Bras and panties – Um, yeah. It’d probably be paper thin!

7 – Condoms!!! hahaha ;D – Haha! Me either!

8 – Canned meat! – I wouldn’t buy canned meat ANYWHERE!

9 – sushi – I didn’t even know they had sushi at the Dollar Store!

10 – Fruits and veggies … umm no thanks – I’ve never seen either of those at our Dollar Store.

11 – boxed foods or electrical cords! – I haven’t ever bought either of those there, but I know for sure that I wouldn’t buy the cords there!

12 – Toys they are made from another country and can have lead in them.. not safe for my kids! – I didn’t even realize that! I try not to buy too many toys there anyway, because most of them break about 5 minutes after we get home.

13 – clothes – I’ve only seen a handful of clothes at our DS and they were very plain and THIN!

14 – Jars of any good (pickles, relish, peppers) the say distributed from Wisconsin or something but it’s a product from India. Also toothpaste, the colgate that says made in Madagascar? – Right. I’m all about buying USA made stuff!

15 – Anything in the refrigerated section. – Our DS doesn’t even have a refrigerated section!

16 – Diapers, they are so much more expensive – Wouldn’t they be just a $1? Ha. I would never trust the Dollar Stores diapers.

17 – Food. – Not all of it is bad.

18 – birth control – Another one of those “I’ve never even seen that there!” I thought BC had to be OTC?!

The most common answer was: a pregnancy test. But let me just tell you this! When I was pregnant, I was at the doctor office and we were talking about pregnancy tests. She told me that the ones at the Dollar Store are just as effective as the ones she had! One of the nurses that works at my doctors office even confirmed this on my status. This is what she said, “Jourdan, the pregnancy tests at her office are almost identical to the dollar store ones haha! I buy everything at the dollar store.”

Other commenters said this about pregnancy tests:

* they have to be fda approved so why spend $10 when you can just spend $1?
*Bought both my pregnancy tests at the dollar store. They worked fine! Got two boys to prove it!
*Bought both of my pregnancy tests at the dollar store, and both said I was pregnant when the really expensive early predictor ones said I wasn’t… BOTH TIMES! And I now have two beautiful little girls…
*I’ve bought 2 pregnancy tests for the dollar store and they were right both times
*I didn’t believe it either….I went and bought the $10 one and it was the same result

I had a couple people that work at Dollar Stores comment on my statuses and this is what they had to say:

*I work at dollar general. Are products are just as good as walmarts.
*I work at dollar general too and do most my shopping here. It’s as good as anywhere else.

*Disclosure: I was not contacted by any of the stores mentioned to write this post. I did not receive any compensation at all. This was written by me with the opinions of others from my Facebook pages.

What would you NEVER buy at the Dollar Store?

Christmas Eve

image

Happy {merry?} Christmas Eve!

I hope you have a super fabulous time with your loved ones!

I hope Santa finds his way into your home tonight and you wake up with some awesomeness under your tree!

Later on, we are gonna go look at all the beautiful homes decked out in lights.

And when we get back, we are starting a new tradition with our very own little family.

I saw this idea on Pinterest.

Christmas Eve Box - Include: New pajamas, a Christmas movie, popcorn, mugs, hot chocolate, marshmallows, and a Christmas book. This could definitely turn into a tradition.{Unfortunately, the back link didn’t work on this, so all I’ve got is the picture.}

It’s the Christmas Eve box.

Inside is a Christmas movie, a pair of pajamas for each of us, a mug for Kade and I and a sippy for Karsyn, some hot chocolate and marshmallows, along with some snacks to enjoy while watching the movie.

Last year, Karsyn was only about 2 months old, so we just went to Kade’s moms and ate dinner.

Now that Karsyn is a little older, we are gonna do our own thing.

I can’t wait to carry on this tradition for the rest of my years!

I can’t wait to see what everyone gets tomorrow! (:

Pinto {Part 4}

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3

____________________________________________________________________________

001 (2)

I’ve been dreading this final part because it makes me really sad. Still to this day.

I’m probably going to cry while writing this. ):

So it was a warm, summer day. June 21 to be exact.

I was at my moms, where I lived.

Kade was over and we had just got back from somewhere, don’t remember where, but we just sat in the truck talking.

Pinto was with us.

We opened the doors because it was hot.

Pinto would go from the truck to the driveway, to the truck to the driveway, to the truck to the driveway.

My mom’s driveway is a little weird.

She’s got a normal driveway in front of the garage and then in front of the yard, where it usually connects with the road or sideway, there is more pavement before the road. Probably about 10 feet. It’s big enough to park all the extra cars there.

Anyway, Pinto had just gotten out and he was laying right where the driveway met the road.

He was just chillin’ there, soakin’ up the sun.

Kade and I were still talking.

Laughing at Pinto because he couldn’t make up his mind.

I happened to glance up and saw a truck coming toward us.

I didn’t really think much about it.

Cars and trucks go by all day long.

But as he got closer… And closer… And closer

I could see what was coming…

{Wow, this is really hard to write! I’m already bawling like a little two-year-old.}

I jumped out of the truck as fast as I could,

But I was too late..

My dog, my best friend, my protector, my guardian, my laughter, my life,

73

Was dead.

I was laying in the middle of the road,

Next to my dead dog,

SCREAMING for him to come back.

“NO! BEAN! COME BACK! PLEASE DON’T DIE! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

I was just wailing around and screaming.

Every single neighbor came out to see what the heck was going on.

It. Was. AWFUL.

To say the least.

The guy finally stopped about two houses down.

Apparently he said sorry, but I have absolutely no recollection of that.

My mom came over and scooped up my lifeless dog.

She wrapped him in a towel and put him in the back of Kade’s truck so we could go bury him.

She told me I couldn’t look at him, but I insisted on holding him until we got to the spot.

I called my dad and asked if he could come help me dig a hole for my Bean.

He said yes, and we met at my grandma’s, out where we had buried our other dogs that have passed.

I cried until I couldn’t cry anymore.

I was weak. Exhausted. Distraught.

It was, honestly, the worst day of my life.

I’ve never had a day as bad as that.

That was my first “real” death.

We’ve had other dogs that died, but none I was that close to.

I haven’t had any family members or friends that I was close to pass on, so that’s what I mean when I say my first.

{Please, God, do NOT take one of my family members or friends because I said that. Where’s the wood? I need to knock on it.}

I’m gonna end it hear because I’m sick of thinking about it.

To this day, I still miss him.

When we move to a place that will allow me to have a dog, that will be my first purchase.

Adorable Jewels I’ve Been Making

Over the Black Friday weekend, I did a huge sale with my Jourdan’s Jewels and Jourdan’s {Handmade} Jewels. Like 50% off huge.

I had about 20 Handmade orders – 4 from one girl, 8 from another, and then some other randoms.

So I’ve been busy.

I can’t wait to share all of them that I made, but I have to wait just a few more days because they are gifts.

5 Blogging Tips {Part 2}

5 blogging tips part 2

If you missed part 1, check it out here.

I’m adding on to my list of Blogging Tips!

Let’s get to the point, shall we?

{The first three all kind of go together.}

1 – Use pictures! It keeps things entertaining. Obviously, not all posts can really use pictures, but like this one, I made a title photo. That’s good enough for this. But when you are sharing a tutorial or telling about your adventures, it’s always nice to see pictures. Plus, if you don’t have any pictures and I want to pin your post, how in the heck am I supposed to do that?!

2 – Water mark your pictures! Not only is it for safety of your content, but not all pictures link back to the original post {which leads in to my next point!}, so if your blog name is on your picture, it will be easier for me to find whatever I was looking for.

3 – Have a Search box at the top of your page! Or ANYWHERE for that matter! Sometimes images that I find on Pinterest only link to the blog, not the actual post. I don’t want to scroll through millions of pages just to find what I came for. If there was a Search box, I would be able to just type it in and pull it up. It’s super annoying to dig around and most times, I’ll just forget it.

4 – Enable the Follow by Email feature! I follow LOTS of blogs, all by email! Not everyone has GFC or Bloglovin’. And even those that do, probably don’t go through everything and read every post from every blog. It’s nice to be able to have my favorite blogs’ content right in my email! I know it doesn’t count as a page view, so if it’s something I am interested in, I try to click over to the blog and read the post there and then just delete the email. If it’s something I just skim through, then I just skim through it in my email.

5 – Comment back! I understand that it may be almost impossible to comment back to EVERY SINGLE comment when you have over 3,000. But it’s always nice to hear a personal word back from the blogger. If it’s overwhelming to you because you have so many comments, set aside some time to go back through and reply.

A Day of Silence

To the Blog World and Anyone Else who Wants to Help,

I’m sure you all know by now about the shooting in Connecticut. Friday was a VERY tragic day. Having a one-year-old, I cannot even imagine {nor do I want to!} what it was like to be a child that went to that school, a parent of a child, a teacher, a spouse to a teacher, etc, and especially not a parent or spouse who lost a child in the shooting…

<img src=”https://sites.google.com/site/megoblogdesign/files/sandyhooksupport.png&#8221; />
Today on Tuesday, December 18th, there will be a blogger day of silence.
We are posting this button and that’s it. Please try to not post anything else that day if possible.

We are also raising money that will go to an organization in the memory of this tragedy. The organization is called The Newtown Family Youth and Family Services. Here is the official description of the support service we are donating to:

“Newtown Youth and Family Services, Inc. is a licensed, non-profit, mental health clinic and youth services bureau dedicated to helping children and families achieve their highest potential. NYFS provides programs, services, activities, counseling, support groups and education throughout the Greater Newtown area.

ANY DONATIONS MADE TO NEWTOWN YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE DONATED DIRECTLY TO THOSE EFFECTED BY THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SHOOTING.”

Please visit THIS PAGE to make your donation.

We can’t imagine how they must be feeling, especially this close to the holidays. We would love for you to spread the word on your own blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Let’s make a difference and use blogging in a positive way. Thank you in advance for participating.

Love,
The Blog World
