Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my birthday! (: Yay! I hit the big 2-0!

According to my mom, I am now a “nobody.” No longer a teen, but not quite to that “official” mark as an adult {21}.

{And if you have been following along, yes, Karsyn was born the day before my birthday. The BEST birthday present I have ever received!}

Kade and Karsyn gave me some Cowgirl boots that I have been wanting!

Aren’t they adorable?! I picked them out a few months ago. I love them because they will match with anything!

When Kade went to go buy them, my size was the only pair left! Wooohooo!

My momma and step-dad gave me $100 cash. I was told I could ONLY spend it on myself.

So, that’s what I did! I receive emails from Freebies2Deals {if you don’t already, you should definitely subscribe!}, and one of the deals was to take 60% off already reduced clearance at Wet Seal. I love me a good deal.

This is what I scored:

This Flocked Dot Babydoll Top
Original price: $24.50
Clearance price: $17.99
I got it for $7.20

This gorgeous Metallic Mesh Rosette Tee
There are four other colors, but I got this red.
Original price: $19.50
Clearance price: $13.99
I got it for $5.60

This Sequin Colorblock Top
Original price: $19.50
Clearance price: $13.99
I got it for $5.60

This Stripe Waffle Lace Back
Original price: $19.50
Clearance price: $10.99
I got it for $4.40

This Rhinestone Buckle Jean Belt
This wasn’t on sale, so I got it for $10.50

This Skull Lace Print Tee
Original price: $16.50
Clearance price: $8.99
I got it for $3.60

This Lace Jean Belt
This wasn’t on sale either, so I got it for $8.50

So my total was $45.40… BUT, it gets better!
I NEVER leave the coupon code box empty! I Googled “Wet Seal Coupon Code” and clicked on this link and I got an additional 10% off. So since the coupon wasn’t valid on sale prices, I saved 10% on the belts. Then I found another link and got an additional $10 off {$10 off a purchase over $40}, PLUS they were having FREE shipping! So I got everything shipped right to my front door for $37.65! SCORE!!

My daddy also gave me a $100 gift card to Wal-Mart. I am headed there after I write this.

He also gave me a really special card. I cried. Like a little baby. Like I always do. My dad is my weakness. I can rarely have a conversation with him without crying. {It’s a whole other story. Maybe later.}

Kade’s grandma gave me a cute little decoration block and my aunt Heather gave me $15.

I had such a great day!

Final Blog Angel Round-Up

As some of you may know, I was a blog angel to Army Wife, Mommy Life.

This is our final round-up and each Blog Angel was asked to answer the following:

1. How has your relationship with your blogger and Blog Angel developed since the reveal?

Honestly, it hasn’t.

2. How have your helped them out and what help have you received?

I’ve tried giving her shout outs on my Facebook pages and I’ve pinned some of her creations. My blog angel, Myranda, asked me to do a guest post, which went live yesterday, so head over to her blog and check it out, if you haven’t already! There may or may not be coupon codes and a giveaway involved. (; {hint, hint}

3. What have you learnt about your blogger since the reveal?

I have learned that Alejandra works hard to be a good mom for her two young daughters, she likes to craft, she hates cancer {who doesn’t?}, and she likes to send care packages to her husband {he is deployed}.

4. What plans have you to stay in touch in the future?

I will continue to check up on her blog.

So, there you have it. I honestly feel like I haven’t done much to help her. And I feel bad. But like I’ve said before, I only know less than a handful of people who can relate with her, so it’s hard to really give her the readers that she needs.

One Year Ago.. {Birth}

{This post is continued from yesterday’s post.}

About 10:30, it was time to start pushing. After a few pushes, they discovered that it was really hard on Karsyn and his heart rate was dropping drastically. Like down in the 80s. One of the nurses called the OR and told them to prep. I did NOT want to have a C-Section. My doc wanted to try one more thing before we went to the OR. I was to push on every other contraction. So that’s what I did. About two hours later {at 12:23 PM, to be exact}, I pushed out the most beautiful thing I had EVER seen.

My sweetest little Karsyn.

Dixie {my doc} set him on my chest and he lifted his sweet little head and looked right up at me and then put his sweet little head back down on my chest. Every. Single. Time I think about this moment, I tear up. Nothing in this whole world has meant more to me. At that point, the only thing that mattered was that I had my baby. In my arms. Safe.

Not long after he was placed on my chest, they took him away to check him out. He had a cone head since he was in the birth canal for so long. Kade had never seen one before and he was freaked out!

“His head is not going to stay like that, is it?” he whispered to me.

Everything else after that was pretty much a blur.. I remember having the shakes really bad, afterward.

I remember eating. Finally!

I remember seeing my family.

We were there for 5. Flipping. Days! They thought Karsyn was sick, so we had to stay and he had to have medicine every few hours and had blood tests twice a day, etc. to find out that he was just fine. I would rather be safe than sorry, yes, but my heck! I just wanted to go home! I lived right down the road!!!! And not to mention that the doctors here are absolutely ridiculous. {A few years ago, my friend got in a really bad four-wheeler accident. He was rushed to the hospital and the docs here said he was just fine. Just a little sore and swollen. His mom knew better than that, so she went north about two hours to Primary Children’s and found out that he had broken every bone in his face, plus a few others! But according to the docs here, he was just fine. And that’s just ONE of the MANY stories I could tell you.}

Anyway, we finally got to go home and it has been pretty much great ever since.

But now, my baby is not a baby any more. He is a walking, talking toddler. And the sweetest one ever.

He just melts my heart every time I look at him. Again, don’t get me wrong, he does bug the living shit out of me sometimes, but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t have it any other way! He is my entire world.

And I am having a REALLY hard time with him turning one. Where did the time go? I just brought this 22 inch, 7 pound one ounce baby home.

Now he’s big.

I love him more and more with every passing day.

{Big boy!}

One Year Ago.. {Labor}

One year ago from today was October 28, 2011. It was a Friday. I remember this day as if it were yesterday.

I went to bed Thursday night in pain. I knew I was having contractions. I mentioned it to Kade, but I think he was already asleep, so I just did my best to sleep as well. Now with a big ol’ hard belly, it’s hard to get comfortable. And to make things worse, Karsyn LOVED to kick and play around when I was ready for bed. So I had to wait for him to settle down before I could even get some-what comfy.

Friday morning, Kade got up at 7 and went to work. I went about my day, just as if it were any other day. But I was still in pain. Still having contractions. Now, don’t get me wrong. I DID want to have my baby by Sunday {which would have been my birthday}. Kade insisted that Karsyn couldn’t be born on my birthday. Whatever.

The night before, I had looked up ways to naturally induce labor, but wasn’t too keen on trying anything I had read about, so on Friday, I walked. Around noon, I my contractions were getting harder and closer together, but I tried to keep my mind off of it. I ran some errands and then went back home. Then I called my mom and told her what was going on. She said I needed to put my watch on and time my contractions.

Nah. That’s lame.

I walked down to Albrentson’s to get myself a refill of Dr. Pepper. I talked to my mom on the phone the whole way there and back. She was timing them for me. They were about 5-6 minutes apart at this time. When I got home, I just relaxed and did whatever for a while. Then about 3, I went to Family Dollar to get some Christmas presents for my siblings. It was about 4 and my mom called again. She asked the same questions she had been asking me all day.

Are you okay? Where are you? What are you doing? Have you been having more contractions? How far apart are they? Do you need to go to the hospital?

I shopped around the town til about 5. Then I went to my step-moms salon to get a pedicure. It was nice and relaxing. But after about an hour of being at the salon, I started to really not feel good, so I went home. When I got home, I laid in bed and tried to get ahold of Kade. I had been calling him all day, to no avail. I knew he wouldn’t answer because they don’t take their phones on the site, but just on the off chance. About 7, I called my mom and told her I thought it was time. My contractions were about 3-4 minutes apart. She said she’d be right there to get me {she lives 15 minutes away}. So I called my step-mom and let her know what was going on. She said she’d be right there and my mom could just meet us at the hospital. So she came and got me. I still didn’t even have a bag packed haha. I just never really thought too much about it, so we shoved a few things in a bag and left. I called Kade’s mom and let her know what was going on. Then I tried to call Kade some more, but no answer. So my step-mom said she would figure it out. Her friend, Shelly, is married to Kade’s boss, so she called Shelly and Shelly called Eli and Eli called someone and told them to tell Kade.

We checked in to the hospital and went back to my room. We had to go through the Emergency Room by this time because the front was closed. The nurse tried to push me to the room in the wheelchair. Psh. Wheelchairs are for sissy’s {not really! No offense to anyone! I’m just a super stubborn and independent person}.

I don’t want that. I can walk.

The nurse looked puzzled and said she would follow behind with the wheelchair, just in case. I made it to the room and they hooked me to a bunch of machines.

Kade finally showed up about 8, COVERED in Frac Mud. {He works in the oil field.} So he jumped in the shower, but there was no soap or shampoo {and I didn’t bring any!}, so he just had to use the hand soap that was by the sink to scrub off as best as he could.

After a while, I was taken in to the labor and delivery room, where I was checked every hour and continued to have contractions and was very uncomfortable. Nothing really progressed. I was dilated to a 3 when I checked in. So I just laid on that stupid, uncomfortable bed for FOREVER it seemed like. My doctor was already at the hospital dealing with some other people, but she had been there all day and night, so she was sleeping and just had her nurses check in on me so she could get some rest before my delivery.

The pain was nothing I couldn’t handle. Don’t get me wrong, yes, it hurt, but I could handle it. I’d say I was at probably a 3-4 and having FULL on contractions. About 12 midnight, I was dilated to a 5 {that is what you have to be to get an epidural}. They asked if I wanted an epidural and I said yes. Not because it hurt, but because I was super scared. I didn’t know what to expect. So about an hour later, the anesthesiologist {wow! I spelled that right first try!} came in and put a HUGE needle in my back. That was the worst pain of my whole labor experience. It hurt so bad. And he put it in during a contraction, so that sucked.

After that was all done, the nurses told Kade and I to get some rest {by this time, my step-mom had gone home and my mom went to stay at my house}. She dimmed the lights and told me she’d be back in an hour to check on me. My legs were SOOOO heavy. I had to pick each one up to move. I was all tingly as well. I never did get much sleep. Maybe an hour, hour-and-a-half.

I continued to SLOWLY dilate. About 8 the next morning, my moms had showed back up. I was hungry and thirsty, but I couldn’t eat or drink. I had to “munch” on ice. Fun.

Can’t I just have a drink of water?

I was told no. So that made me mad and I just let my ice melt enough for me to drink it. (: {Once again, stubborn me!} I was feeling like I was going to throw up and I told my doc and she gave me a little bag to puke in. Sure enough, I did. Just a little bit. That was the third, and final time, I had thrown up during my whole pregnancy. Also, by this time, my epidural had completely worn off and I couldn’t get more.

“I want you to be able to feel when you need to push.”

I continued to lay in my stupid bed until I was at a 10. My mom was trying to cheer me up. She opened the window and said, “Look! The sun!” In return, I said,

The only sun {son?} I want to see is my own!

{Hooked up to all the monitors.}

{Mommy and Daddy to be!}

{My contractions.}

{Feeling large and in charge miserable.}

{Come out, come out!}

To be continued….

Hello sweet readers!

I’m sure you haven’t even had time to notice anything new because I haven’t posted since I made some changes!

The plain pink background was just not cutting it for me, so….

I made some changes!

Do you like?

I found some super cute backgrounds and I also changed the layout.

I wasn’t about to find a layout that would let me change the color of the writing, so I guess I will just have to deal. ):

Other than that, I am happy with how it looks.

I know it is very simple and definitely not as cool as others, but I will get there someday. I just started my little ol’ blog in July.

Next on my list is to add some more pages!! The “Home” and “Jourdan’s Jewels” are just not cool. I need to add more. I also need to make myself a signature! So watch for those!

But all that will probably happen after this weekend.

It’s Karsyn’s FIRST birthday party on Saturday and I have been doing everything myself.. Meaning making decorations, putting everything together, etc. It’s a lot of work! I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. Kade keeps saying I am in over my head, which I am, but he only has ONE FIRST BIRTHDAY! It’s a HUGE milestone. And I am really emotional about it. I’ll have lots of fun pix and tutorials for what I have done. I can’t wait. Even though I am sad that my baby is no longer a baby, I am excited. He’s so much fun and I love him so much! (:

So far, I have posted about the envelopes I made that contained his invites! (:

Stay tuned for more monsterous fun!

Fruit Cocktail

A few years ago, I went with Kade and his family up to Wolf Creek for the weekend. It’s this really nice, super small town. It was gorgeous up there! We stayed in some condo that was super nice, too.

While we were there, Kade’s mom made this YUMMY fruit cocktail salad and I instantly fell in love. I ate it every day while we were there.

Here’s the scoop:

1 tub of Whipped Cream
1 packet of French Vanilla Pudding
2 cans of Fruit Cocktail
2 bananas
2 apples
Any other fruit you want to add

Chop up your apples into bite-size pieces.

Combine the cans of cocktail, the apples, and slice in the bananas in a large bowl.

Then add your whipped cream. Stir until all the fruit is coated. Then pour some pudding mix in. I usually use about half or 3/4 the packet.. Just depending on your taste preferences.

Then scoop up and enjoy!!

P.S. It’s good to eat right then and there, but it’s best when refrigerated.

What other fruit would you add?

Monster Party Invite Envelopes

I have been working my little bum off lately trying to get all the stuff done for Karsyn’s birthday party!

I will be showing you what I have done, one by one!

Today, I am showing you my simple and easy invite envelopes.

I just bought the envelopes at Wal-Mart. They come in a box of 50 for like $5. They are the invitation size; the ones just a little bigger than 4×6. They worked perfect because I included a 4×6 photo of Karsyn.

This one… (:
His party theme is MONSTER!! I seriously love all this stuff. I am having a really fun time planning it and making the stuff, but it is stressful.

So I borrowed the Monster Stampin’ Up! stamp set from one of my friend’s mom. {Thanks Michelle!!}

I was originally going to use them to make the actual invites, but it was taking a toll on my brain and sanity, so I just stamped them on the envelopes.

The colors of the party are BRIGHT green, BRIGHT orange, and BRIGHT blue! So I used some green and blue ink for the bodies and just black for the eyes.

I used these two monsters, but I used a bunch of different eyes and mouths.

I think they turned out super cute! They added a fun little sneak peek of what was inside! (:

So there you have it. Some SUPER cute and super easy Monster Party Invite Envelopes!

Have you ever held a Monster party?!

Tuesday10: 10 Pet Peeves

This weeks prompt is 10 Pet Peeves.

This should be easy.

Please note: These are in no particular order. I’m just putting them out there as they come to mind.

1 – When people miss a belt loop.

2 – When people SLURP their food. {Even thinking about this makes me want to punch someone.}

3 – When people tap, tap, tap or click, click, click their pens

4 – When people sip, sip, sip their drink. {My mom used to do this all the time and I honestly couldn’t even be in the same room as her when she was drinking her coffee.}

5 – SLOW drivers

6 – When people use “your” instead of “you’re.” ESPECIALLY when it’s someone who should be professional, like a business. It just makes me not want to buy from you or follow you anymore.

7 – When people are constantly sniffing their snot back up their nose. GET A FREAKING TISSUE AND BLOW YOUR FLIPPING NOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

8 – When I ask Kade to take out the trash and he says “In a minute, I want to relax first.” NO! Take out the damn trash and THEN relax! Why sit down and get all comfy just to get up and have to take out the trash??

9 – People who update their status every five minutes. I’m sorry, but no one cares that you just got in your car to go to the store and now you’re at the store and now you are leaving the store and now you are at a stop light and so on.

10 – When people say they are going to do something, and then don’t.

Ah, I feel so much better now.

What are your pet peeves?

Blog Angel Reveal

A while ago, I signed up to be a Blog Angel through Craftbotic‘s blog.

She accepted the first 100 people that filled out the form. I was surprised I got it! But happy! I had heard a lot of great things about this whole Blog Angel thing.

Each person had an angel and the blog that you were the angel of was not the same blog that was the angel of you.. If that makes ANY sense at all.

The blog that I was the angel to is Army Wife, Mommy Life. Alejandra {aka Alex} is a mom of two sweet girls. Her husband is deployed. As if it isn’t obvious as to what she blogs about.. Being an army wife and a mommy! (: She has some great posts of care packages that she sends to her husband. The latest one was this Halloween Care Package.

Alejandra seems like a very kind, caring, and down-to-earth girl.

As an angel, I have shared a few of her posts on some of my Facebook pages and have pinned some of her crafts. I hope I am helping her, but I honestly don’t feel like I am. Sorry girl! ):

Being a Blog Angel is harder than it seems. I know very few people that can relate to her, with her husband in deployment and all. So it’s tough.

I hope I have helped her in some way! Be sure to check out her blog!

I first saw this fill-in-the-blank over at The Foley Fam and then again at Absolute Mommy, so I decided to be a follower join in on the fun!

Currently, I am…

Obsessed with: Monster party ideas

Watching: Bubble Guppies! Haha, I turned it on for Karsyn, but he’s asleep now and I just haven’t bothered to change it.

Fashion Favorites: Lace {I bought 4 shirts with lace on them while I was on my mini-vacay in St. George Monday-Wednesday!}, colored skinnies {bought 2 new pairs on my mini-vacay!}, and Toms {or Tom inspired} shoes {bought one new pair [inspired/knock off brand, of course] on the mini-vacay}!

{source – these are one of the pairs I got!}

{source – And these are the other pair!}

Wishing for: Warmth! I know, it JUST got cold, but I am FREEZING and can’t seem to get warm.

Listening to: Justin Moore!

Eating: {Just finished} Oreos and milk, of course!

Can’t wait for: Karsyn’s birthday, Halloween, Christmas!

Missing: Kade.. Good thing he’s coming home tonight!

{Us a few years ago waiting for The Used concert to start}

Sippin’: Dr. Pepper, of course!

Not loving: This cold weather! Just right now. I enjoy it sometimes.

Hearing: Cars driving down the wet road.

Dreaming: Of finishing all these decorations for Karsyn’s birthday.. I need to get crackin’.

If you join in on the fun of this fill in the blank, be sure you leave me your link in the comments, as well as on Kristine and Megan’s blogs!
