Pinto {Part 3}

In cased you missed it.. Part 1 and Part 2.

I just want to share some pictures before I have to write about the tragic ending.. I hate thinking about it.

Pinto sleeping with me. The day before I went to Oklahoma for 10 days. I missed him while I was gone and I miss him more than ever now!

He always slept in the WEIRDEST positions. Cracks me up!

These were taken about a week before he died. Kade and I went for a RZR ride on the mountain and Pinto thought he needed to drive. It was HILARIOUS!

My precious.

Watching movies with me.

Say cheese!!

Sleeping in my lap.

This is Pinto when we went camping. He LOVED camping. We were right by a lake and he just walked along the lake and the shore for hours. He had a fun time.

Sorry for the bird here. It is just like a natural pose to him. I don’t have many pictures of him without his finger up. Anyway, a “family” picture lol. Kade, my dumb fake baby I had for a class, me, and Pinto!

Thanks for letting me share my pictures. I enjoyed looking at them and reminising {sp?}.

TO BE CONTINUED…

The last part will be about the day he died… )’;

Do you have a pet that has passed?

Pinto {Part 2}

Continued from my last post where he was still stuck in my car..

My mom was across the street, so I yelled for her to come home and help me. The friend she was with used to work at a vet clinic, so she was trying to help me get Pinto out. But still nothing. I just stood in the driveway, crying.

Pinto kept growling and nipping at anything that would get within 6 inches of him. My mom went in the garage and came back out with my step-dads gloves that were about two inches thick and made of rubber.

“Here. Put these on and get him out. If he bites you, you won’t even feel it.”

So I did just that. And guess what? I got him out. Yes, he did bite the glove, but I had finally got him out of my car after 30 minutes of trying. I was kinda scared to hold him close because I didn’t want him to bite me. I took him in the house into the bathroom with some food and water to see if he would eat and the first thing he did was hide behind the toilet. I just let him stay in there, alone, for a few, while I made a bed for him in my room. I figured he would come out on his own and eat or drink if he wanted to. He just needed to calm down.

After a few minutes, I went back in there to get him and he was still nipping at me.

The gloves became my best friend.

I put those honkers back on and scooped him up. I took him into my room and laid him down on a huge, ugly, old blanket that would become his bed for the next couple of days.

I sat right by him for a little while and just reassured him {and myself} that everything would be okay. I was finally able to pick him up. Without the gloves! I showed him around the house and to the family. Any time he would see a male, he would just cowar. It was really sad. You could tell that he was so scared of them. But if he was going to be living there, he needed to get used to them.

That night, he slept with me, on my bed. But the next morning, I had to break out the gloves again, but just for the first time of picking him up to take him outside to potty. Oh, and he was not house trained! The Foster mom had been working on it, but she wasn’t always there to catch him, so I needed to get that under control. Fast. He did very well. He caught on quick. Don’t get me wrong, there were some accidents, but they were minimal and we caught it right away.

He was starting to like me more and more with every passing minute.

I went to Wal-Mart and bought him some food, treats, a food/water dish, a leash and collar, and a sweater because it was getting cold outside!, and a bed. I completely spoiled him and loved every minute of it! I took him with me to the store, but could not bring him in, so I left him in the back of my car, but I hustled because I didn’t want him to be all scared and mean again when we came out.

Pinto became my best friend. He followed me everywhere. He was my protector. One day when Kade came over, he came in to give me a hug and Pinto started barking like crazy! It was funny. He made me feel loved.

One thing he wasn’t sure of was our other dogs. They were outside dogs, but one of them just had puppies and he was not sure what to think of them.

Tuesday 10

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again.. I don’t know what is with me this month and why I cannot keep up with my blog, but I AM SORRY!

Anyway! I am back. And I am linking up to M2M&R’s Tuesday 10!

This weeks theme is: 10 Things I Wish I Knew 10 Years Ago

First off, let me start by saying that 10 years ago, I was almost 10! So, my answers may not be as great as some others that are a little bit older and more experienced at life.

Here we go:

1 – I wish I knew that I wouldn’t be a daddy’s girl for very much longer, so I need to prepare for that.

2 – I wish I knew that growing up really isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be, so stop wishing your life away. {Yes, everyone told me that, but I was 9 and just wanted to be 19.}

3 – I wish I knew how to really stand up for myself and not let others walk all over me. {Yes, I was only 9, but I had to act older.}

4 – I wish I knew that I still would not have moved out of this podunk town that I always wanted to get out of!

5 – I wish I knew that I was not as good at sports as I thought I was. Ha! I’ve made a fool of myself!

6 – I wish I knew that I would be a teen mom so I could prepare for that more.

7 – I wish I knew that I would be only 3 credits away from having my associates degree so that I would have taken more classes during High School instead of going home and getting on Facebook.

8 – I wish I knew that being a mom is the most rewarding job on Earth, but it’s also one of those things that isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.

9 – I wish I knew that I would eventually go to live with my momma!

10 – I wish I knew that every little thing was gonna be all right!

There you have it.. Most of them were lame answers, but heck, I was 9!

Pinto {Part 1}

Yesterday, I wrote a post on some of my favorite pins and one of them was of a Chihuahua.. I shared a little bit about a dog that I rescued, but I feel like it’s a whole post in itself, so I am going to share..

My Junior year of High School, I moved in with my mom, step-dad, two brothers, and a sister. Each of my siblings had their own animal, but I didn’t. I was feeling left out. I missed the dogs from my dad’s house. The animals at my mom’s were all outside animals because my step-dad is allergic to the hair that sheds everywhere. But one day, I was just browsing the internet and it crossed my mind to look for dogs. I started searching for some, knowing that it would be a long shot that I would ever get one, so I was mostly just dreaming, but I came across a shelter in Vegas that had a Chihuahua that looked just like the one my dad had!

{This is Dinky.}

I knew I had to have him, so I asked my mom about it and she said I had to ask my step-dad, but she doubted highly that he would let me. So I tried not to get my hopes up, but I asked him that night when he got home from work.. And guess what he said?! YES! As long as I took care of it and kept him off of the furniture. NO PROBLEM!

So the next day, I called the number that was on the picture, but there was no answer. So I sent her an email. I didn’t hear back from her for about a week-and-a-half, so I was getting really discouraged. I would call every other day, and still no answer. I really wanted that dog! But she finally responded to my email and said she would call me that night.. She never called, but she did call two days later, while I was at the skating rink. It was really loud in there, so I ran skated outside so I could hear what she was saying. I didn’t even tell anyone that I was going out, so they were looking for me in there. Oops. Anyway, she said that she would be willing to meet me that following weekend. It was really spur-of-the-moment, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to go all the way to Vegas that weekend, so she agreed to meet me in Cedar Ciry, which was about the half-way point for both of us. We agreed on a place to meet and hung up.

I made sure to get work off that Friday. Kade and I headed down to Cedar after school. I was so excited!! We got to the hotel where we met her, but there was no one outside, so I decided to go in to the lobby to see if she was waiting for me there. As I was walking in, I passed a car that had a few dogs in it and I looked a little closer and THERE WAS MY DOG! I said hi and waved to him, then proceeded to walk in the lobby with a huge smile on my face! The lady was just checking in and told me she would be right out.

She came out and told us to meet her over by her room, so we drove over there and waited for her to come. When she did, she got out with this adorable black and white Chihuahua. I immediately asked to hold him, but she was kind of hesitant to let me because he was scared and he didn’t know who I was, which was understandable. So we went inside her room and she just let the dogs play around for a minute. Pinto came over to me and I just fell in love with him! I leaned over slowly to pick him up and he let me.

The lady gathered up his things, we thanked her and were on our way. Kade’s brother lives in Cedar, so we stopped to see him before we headed home. From the second we left the hotel, Pinto was shaking like crazy. You could tell he was scared. And the lady told us that he had been abused, which was very obvious from his mannerisms. So I wrapped him up tight in a blanket I had in the car.

When we got to Chet’s house, I got out an sat Pinto down on the sidewalk so he could do his business, if needed. HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!!!!! He ran under my car and WOULD NOT come out! That car {a PT Cruiser} was pretty low to the ground, so I couldn’t really crawl underneath it to get him out. We were sticking our hands under there and calling for him, and he just growled and nipped at us. I was FREAKING out, needless to say. I just got this dog and now he is stuck under my car. Great! We tried to find a stick to kinda poke him out from under there and then someone was at the other end where we were hoping he would come out. That didn’t work. The stick just broke. So we found a shovel and finally got him out, but it was NOT an easy feat. Kade was the one on the receiving end and Pinto bit him and then pooped all over him. Kade wasn’t very happy. He said a few choice words. I was just relieved to get the dang dog out. I immediately wrapped him back up in the blanket and didn’t let him go. We visited for a while and then headed home.

About half way through the drive home, I was getting sweaty from holding my new dog in this blanket, so I sat him down by my feet. Another HUGE MISTAKE! A few minutes after I sat him down, I tryed to pet him and he just growled and showed his teeth and would nip at me if I got too close. Then he would crawl farther up my floor board. He got so far up there, to the point of where I could not even see him anymore. I was getting really worried because we were getting closer to home and I could not get him to come to me.

By the time we got home, he was still hiding and of course, Kade was cursing some more and saying that I never should have got him and that we should just take him back, etc. But I wasn’t going to give up…

Isn’t this dog so cute?! I LOVE Chihuahua’s. My dad and his wife got one when I was in first or second grade, so I grew up with one. He is still alive today! And grey. And FAT! This will definitely be my first purchase when we move to a place that allows pets. A Chihuahua. Just seeing this little thing makes me miss my own Chihuahua that I rescued from a shelter down in Vegas. His name was Pinto. I called him Bean. I loved him so much. I had him for less than 6 months and then some stupid old man ran him over. It was seriously THE. WORST. DAY. of my life. I’m not joking. I laid down in the middle of the road SCREAMING for my dog to come back to life. I miss him every day.

This picture is from the first time I held Bean, when I picked him up from the lady who was fostering him. Isn’t he cute?! Man, I miss him….. RIP Bean! Momma loves you!

Homemade Oreos

This is one of my all time favorite recipes! I may or may not eat Oreos and Milk for at least two of my meals each day………………………… I digress..

Here’s what you’ll need:
Oreo Cookie Part
*2 Packages of Devil’s Food Cake
*1 cup of Canola Oil
*4 eggs
Filling
*8 ounce package of Cream Cheese, soft
*1/4 cup butter, soft
*2 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
*1 tsp Vanilla

In a large bowl, mix the cake mixes, oil, and eggs until well blended.

Roll into 1 inch balls.

Place them on a greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 for 8 minutes. Let cool for at least 5 minutes.

In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter until fluffy. Beat in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.

Spread some of the filling on one side of the cookie, then place the other cookie on top!

And there you have a very simple and DELICIOUS recipe for homemade Oreos.

Enjoy!
